I have been coresponding by e-mail with the Pharmacy Dept at VCU and they have informed me that it may be in my best interest to receive my Bachelors first before attending the PharmD program. Has anyone here attended VCU or are currently attending VCU? What path did you take? What were your grades like? Thank you for sharing

I don't go there, but I actually had a good 40 minute phone conversation w/Dean Reinders. He told me that about 85% of their accepted applicants either already have a bachelor's degree or at least 4 years of college under their belt. If all goes well, I'll have my BA by end of Spring. I submitted my app for early decision there...wish me luck! 👍

Wow so pretty much the bachelors is the best way to go. Oh and GOOD LUCK!!

If I transfer to VCU just to get my bachelors, will they only accept 60 credits. I know the prereq. for Pharmacy is a minimum of 90 so I wasnt sure how the regular school worked,

Well, I don't know if I would term it as the "best" way to go. It all depends on you. I changed my major and if I had gone into pharmacy w/o my bachelor's, I would've had about 110 credits and no BA degree. I figured, if I'm so close I might as well get it and then go into pharmacy. If you're not interested in a BA and completely intent on getting your PharmD, then go for it. Just make sure you have a really high GPA, do well on the PCAT, and have lots of experience....basically an application that will really make you stand out.
