Anyone going to KCOM?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, I have been accepted there also and plan to attend. I was very impressed with the school.

Congrats, Osteoman! I just found out that I got accepted too...and wild horses couldn't keep me away from KCOM!! It was originally my second choice because of location (I've lived in and around big cities all my life), but after the interview/orientation/tour, it moved up to my number one spot. Perhaps I'll see you around...heehee

So when do y'all plan to search for housing in Kirksville. The admissions lady (Lori) said they send out a listing of rental property sometime next year. One of the big advantages I found about K-ville was the low cost of living as far as rent. It sounds like you could find a very nice place pretty easily for under $400/month.

Cograts all! I know what you mean about the town of Kirksville being a bit undesireable. My wife hated it. But after the tour/interview/etc. the school more than made up for the town. I cannot wait to begin. I thought it would be nice to get to know classmates before August. I can't seem to access profiles here. Any suggestions?

I would suggest starting to look for housing early (Say in May if possible) and don't take anything you haven't seen.

Good housing in Kirksville is possible to find just not easy to find, you will have to do some looking. The admissions rental list may be a place to start but I would also consider checking with any second year students you know or go to www.kcomstudents.org and start a thread there to see if any second years are leaving town and have a place they recomend that will be comming open.

Just my two cents.

Congrats.

CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to KCOM!! It is a wonderful school and I am very glad that I choose to go here! However, for those of you who like myself are born and bred in the city...K'Ville will a bit of an adjustment. In many ways, you will be amazed at how genuinely friendly the locals are! But, it is a remote and rural locale--->Hell, my neighbot is a FARM! There are sheep, cows and a crops--->what they are, I have no idea!

On the rental property thing...UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU RENT ANYTHING YOU HAVE NOT SEEN!! There is a some nice rental property; but you have to look for it and it is in the hands of a select few landlords. Most of the rental property is appropriate for the Truman State students, who care for nothing more than a flop-house shanty to store their beer in and sleep-off the previous nights festivities.

I will research information for the good landlords and try to discretely discourage you from the "slum-lords". I'll post information here and on www.kcomstudents.org

Again, CONGRATULATIONS & welcome to tha' Ville!
