i just got done with the rough draft of my personal statement.... was wondering if any of you kind med school people have the time to read and give me some construtive criticism...

So, what methods do you all use to get started on your essays?Usually as soon as I get a good start I can easily continue the flow throughout the essay but I'm having trouble coming up with innovative ideas for a personal statement for next year's app cycle.

If someone wants me to read thier PS I'll do it. I'm a reasonable intelligent person.

I looked at my ECs and found a few that I felt were important and worth telling more about. One of them just seemed like it would make a good story to tell, so my personal statement is based on that activity. I tried to look at things in terms of how they became important to me, or how they fit in with my goals.

In the end, I talked about volunteering to start a youth center, and how somewhere along the way I ended up talking to these teens and helping them with their problems with drugs, gangs, sex, violence, crime, etc. Basically, it will probably be a better PS if it's something that you really care about, because then you'll be able to put feeling behind the essay.
