i applied in late july and got the supp apps like about late aug to sept.. and i got the interview offer in october and interviewed in nov. and accepted in dec

so you can see its kinda a long process

abt04,
Can you tell me about your interview experience at Nova?

My application experience was similar to abt04. The interview was well run. There were 5 of us there for the interview that day. We went on a tour for about half an hour and then were called in one by one to interview with faculty. My interview was about 20-30 minutes. I know at other schools it's closed file in the interview but it's open file there. Any other questions you can PM me. abt04- have you decided if you're going to go there? It would be cool to get to know future classmates ahead of time.

inreviewed in nov and accepted mid dec. basic interview. u should be able to answer why pharm, and why nova. also ?'s about anything in application. not very intense, just be yourself. it's more of a conversation than an interview if your confertable enough. the more u talk the less they ask. they meet at the end of every month and make decisions for every one they interviewed. pharmacy experienced is important with nova. if u don't work in one. you should volunteer. good luck all.

well.. everyone basically described my experience. but the possible exception is that i am from california and my interview was a bit more intense becuase of their skepticism of why i want to attend nova. what they didnt know is that i only applied to 2 schools in cali in hopes to just attend out of state for chance of a new experience. so i was kinda drilled with all sort of questions besides nova and pharmacy.

ageldred- i saw ur acceptance to midwestern ccp.. congrats.. umm yea i just turned down touro (new school and gloomy environment) for nova (cheaper and nicer as well as established for 20 yrs)...what about you? was nova your first choice school?

Well--I got in my car after work yesterday and noticed that I had a voice message on my cell phone--it was Renee from Nova wanting to sceldule me for an interview.

I tried to call her back--but I got her voice mail--so I left a message--I hope she calls me back next week (or are they out for th holidays now??)

I am so thrilled to have an interview--because I thought with my 41% composite PCAT scores--that no one would even want me...

I really hope I get into Nova. I have family in Miami--I have heard nothing but great things about the school, faculty, weather, area, etc. I have heard they have high NAPLEX pass rates.

I just hope I don't go into the interview and bomb it--I'm pretty good with people--so oddly enough--I'm not too worried about it.

For those wondering--here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.298
PCAT: 41% composite 😳 🙁
Degree: Bachelor's of Science (major: Biology; minor: Chemistry)
Volunteer work: Volunteered at a clinical pharmacy (only was allowed to speak with a clinical pharmacist for about an hour though--but it was a good experience)...also volunteered at a retail pharmacy.
Extracurricular: Not much--just a member of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society--and I have participated in Race for the Cure, etc.
Work: I have worked in a Doctor's office (internal medicine) for over 9 years--I have had a lot of experience with calling or faxing in drugs to pharmacies--spoke to many drug reps, helped patients etc.

So--what do you think my chances are of getting in to NOVA?

Do you all think that by not answering my cell phone--I screwed up a potential interview with NOVA??

I was working--I believe they had my work number on my application (and my house number too).

I'm so nervous!

I'm really upset--because I wish I had the interview schelduled already and confirmed...:scared: 🙁

hey...i just came back from the interview last week, and I can tell you that they were really professional, all the interviewers were faculty professors (3) sitting at a round table with you at the end. Mine was quiet simple for me because they mostly focused on what I have done for my undergrad..which was at the nations top research medical institution/school. And they asked me what were my criterias for Nova, because i come clear from the west. I also spoke to many current nova students, and they told me they ask alot of basic interview questions, although not for me. So depends on your history, and how their impressed with it.
Just go their looking like a million$$$, dont crash, and you'll do fine

I am going to turn down midwestern and accept Nova. Nova is closer to home for me. I will go there unless I get in to UF, but from what I've seen on the boards everyone has applied to UF so who knows if I'll get in. I did graduate from there but I don't know if that factors into it. Haven't heard anything from them past the your file is complete email. I have been accepted so the stress is over! It would be cool to get to know future classmates on here 🙂 Maybe I'll see you there next year!!

the person who didn't answer nova call. just call them in the morning monday, they will deffinitly still give u the interview. no disrespect, but with those stats u got lucky to get an interview, not saying u won't get in... u have to have a good interview. try to stand out. talk as much as u can that way they ask less and u can control the interview. don't tell them u want to attend nova because it's location if that applies to u. they hate that. good luck..

It is to the point now that if you begin your answer to why nova with that you are pretty much not going to get in unless your stats are rocking.

"no disrespect, but with those stats u got lucky to get an interview, not saying u won't get in..."

lol.. i guess that was blunt enough.. but its true. with that score, your are definitely lucky. but no matter now.. after scoring the interview just sell yourself and im sure it would turn out fine. i see that you have a lot of great health care experience and that may be one of your greatest strengths. play up on it. It might be from that, where all the questions will stem from.

BTW.. umm in the interview i did say i liked nova for the location (coming fromthe fact i am from california).. and i got in.. i think its really from the extent of why nova.. location isnt enough but i said i feel nova is situated in an environment full of diversity as well as i feel that nova is the best place for me personally. so good luck with the interview. im sure you will do fine.

I don't mind you all benig blunt at all--I was SHOCKED to have had the phone call--but I am very excited and really hope I get in--but I know that I have to kick butt in the interview--and I feel confident that I will.

I have family in Miami--so that is honestly one reason I want to attend Nova-but that isn't the only reason. I have been told by a few people that the faculty are extremly helpful there, that the professors are wonderful, that the school has a high percentage of students that pass the NAPLEX, the the technology there is wonderful (though I wish I knew more specifics about their technology)..

I went to Miami alot when I was a little girl to visit my uncle--I LOVE it there! Whoever mentioned the diversity bit is right on target--I think Nova would be great to attend because I am going to be in the classroom with people who are different from me culturally, ethically, etc.

I really do appreicate everyone's input.

I'm just scared that I won't get in, because of my low PCAT scores. I've always done poor on standardized tests--but I prove myself in the classroom by getting good grades--and that's what I plan to tell them.

If anyone else has more advice, then please let me know.

I want to get into Nova more than anything...

Emily
