I interviewed in September for Early Decision and was rolled over into the main applicant pool. Is there anyone out there in the regular decision pool that has heard anything from them yet? Does anyone know when decisions might be made?

Mark

i was interviewed nov 4 for regular decision...i still haven't heard anything. If anybody knows of any timelines, etc, please let us know.

I interviewed in January and I have not heard a word from them.

I interviewed in early November and haven't heard anything either. I have heard they have to offer 60 seats by April 1, so hopefully we will hear something by sometime next week.

The last interview was this past Thursday (23rd). Tomorrow the committee will meet to make all the final offers for admissions. That's all I know for sure. I'm not sure when notification for accepted students will begin. Usually, though, acceptances are sent, then the wait list forms, then rejections go out. And they do flat out reject people (I was one of them last year). Mercer doesn't overbook its class, so the wait list moves fast and they usually only have the amount wait-listed that they plan to accept (again, heresay, but reliable hearsay). I have a friend in the first year class who came in off the wait list. He said almost everyone on the wait list this past year was eventually accepted. Good luck to all!

i was accepted a couple of months ago, but just now saw this post. I have already completed all the paperwork for financial aid, etc...but just now got an acceptance to MCG. I am seriously thinking about going there instead.

MCG is certainly cheaper!!! Less debt in the end.

i guess the ADCOM meets today sometime to determine everyone's fate .... Good Luck to everyone. I really hope I get in. Mercer is an outstanding school.

mdwilson,

I can't remember if we talked about this, but did you apply to GA-PCOM? It sounds like you and I have at least both applied to and been interviewed at MCG and Mercer. Mercer is definately my top choice and I'd choose it over MCG if they gave me a full ride. This is my second year applying and I hope it works out. Hopefully, we'll both get in, but if it doesn't work out, I'll probably end up at GA-PCOM. If you haven't considered it, you definately should. The program is very similar to Mercer (i.e. small class size, integrated curriculum, emphasis on primary care in Georgia, and early patient exposure). I have several friends there now who LOVE it. I know there is some stigma associated with being a DO, but unless you want to be a neurosurgeon or something high end like that, it'll get you where you want to be. Plus, Mercer's not the place either if you want to go into neurosurgery! Just a thought.

How quickly do you think we'll hear something??

Oh, another thought....I've heard there will be a Savannah campus of Mercer (not just for rotations) that will begin accepting students for admission 2007.

Just wanted to bump this thread up the pile....man they get buried fast. So, Mercer should've made final decisions last night. However, I keep telling myself that their timeframe for letting students know may be different than what I think it should be (i.e. they may not call me at 8:01am to let me know). But, if any of you do hear something, please post.

OK, so does that include students they have decided to outright accept? Or does that only mean students that will be wait-listed/rejected. Another thought: once they notify students of acceptance, those students have two weeks to respond. So they probably won't form a wait list till after that. Does that sound correct?

Hey Hook17, why don't you pm me and tell me who you are. I just saw you are a BME student at Mercer. I graduated with a BME degree this past May from Mercer.

Just wanted to let yall know, I found out (from a student on an administrative committee at Mercer) that they should be letting people who got in know by today. (They actually had some interviewees on campus this Tuesday as well.) The waitlist should be formed by May 15. Also, there is not going to be a medical school affiliated with Mercer in Savannah anytime soon. Just rotations. Good luck to everyone! 🙂

This sounds closer to what I've been hearing. I'm sure people who work in the admission office are going to be more likely to try and stall students. They're really not allowed to say much. Wait list letters should go out a lot quicker than May 15th though. I have a friend who got in off the wait list last year in the first week of may. I'm trying to varify that now with the admission office. Please everyone, let us know if you get accepted or know anyone who did. Good luck!

I called and they said the last of the acceptance letters will be sent out today. Good luck all!!!

they aren't emailin?

How frikkin hilarious. Every dang one of us has heard something different. They do that on purpose. Someday, when I'm a doctor, I'm going to start my own med school called "Adam's No Bull-Crap School of Medicine.

I KNOW they send letters via certified mail.
I also started hearing that some people were notified by phone. However, I have begun to think this is the personal preference of each individual member of the committee and not a policy they all follow.

I have heard nothing about e-mail.

We'll all see soon enough...once again...good luck!

It could just be we're not accepted.. Sdners probably dont fit in with mercers mission statement

Keep bumping guys...Check this out...ok, this is the latest (officially). I e-mailed Mrs. Putnam (who by this point probably would mistake me for a grandchild). Her response is this:

a. All decisions were indeed made last night
b. All acceptances will be mailed "by the end of the week"
c. The wait list letters will go out by the end of next week

Now, I'm trying still to figure out if ALL accepted students get called. I've heard of some getting called, but others haven't mentioned it. What do yall know about this. I'm not too worried cause if there was anybody on the committee who was least likely to NOT call, it was the guy I interviewed with.Let me know what yall know and I'll keep passing junk along.

Unfortunately, I'm up visiting my folks and won't be able to check my box until Sunday. So if yall get in....be easy.

so i interviewed at mercer last tuesday. before interviews, mary putnam told us that those who were accepted at the last committee meeting wed (yesterday) would recieve a phone call thursday (today).. from her if it wasn't from our representative. since my interviews went so well and my committee member told me he hoped i got in, i was sort of expecting the call today. after two nights of zero sleep and no phone call by 4 today, i called her. she said that the phone call was entirely up to the committee member. mixed messages?!!? ahhhhhhh. is it ok to email my committee member or is that bad form? it seemed like he really enjoyed our interview and was very friendly and i thought for sure he would fight for me at the meeting. soooo stressed. i can't decide whether they just tell people that when they call on days like today when EVERYONE is calling/emailing because they can't say 'oh well if you got in you would have gotten a call.' that would be way too give-away i guess. ugh. still haven't heard from mcg either.

just ranting, but anyone with insight is appreciated.

I will try to clarify some points that are confusing.

All acceptances have been made as of today. Some may have gotten phone calls, others may not have. One absolute is that those accepted will receive a certified letter that would at worst be mailed out today.

It is most likely that if you have yet to hear something that you are a strong waitlist canidate. Most spots were filled prior to the past couple of weeks, with a few that were sent today.

There has, in the last four years, been significant waitlist movement and those on the waitlist have a good chance. (Remember getting on the waitlist means you are good enough to come to Mercer, it is not just a "soft rejection")

Keep me updated and send me private messages if I can help.

Can you are anyone else confirm the number of slots available at the time they sent this final batch of acceptances out? JMEBME mentioned that she had heard 3 slots. Does that sound reasonable, or would the committee give out that kind of info?

my interviewer told me there were 5 or 6 slots left to decide on for the last meeting.

Ok, so I opened my box today and there was nothing. I guess that means either wait list or reject. Anybody else have reason to hope a letter or call will come tomorrow...or should we just expect waitlist letters next weekend (if we're lucky!)? Whatchall Think?

I figure if I don't get anything tomorrow then I'll be expecting a waitlist letter. I know some have already gotten outright rejections, so let's hope for the best...an acceptance tomorrow or a waitlist that gets bumped up to acceptance.

I pulled my old rejection letter from last year out. It was dated April 12. I didn't realize they had sent out any outright rejections thus far. I heard that last year but was never able to confirm it. If that's true, it makes me feel some better. I got wait listed at Morehouse, but because of the way they overbook their class, I take it as a rejection. Mercer is different though. They only offer enough actual acceptances to fill their class. Then they make a wait list that contains the amount of people they forsee getting accepted. So I'm hoping for a spot on the wait list....and a lot more patience!

Nothing yet... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I second that...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

So does no-one even know of a friend of a friend who might have heard that someone got accepted this past week? Seriously, have none of us heard a thing? Hopefully we'll have more to talk about next weekend. Good luck.

Probably Billy-Bob Backwoods and his cousin Jed got the last two spots. They were probably the only applicants from deep south Georgia. 😀 I'm just kidding of course. I know how Mercer values the whole country doctor thing.

I'd like to think they do since that's what they claim....but from what I've heard from people going there....its not the case. According to them, once you're in, you can persue whatever you want and the faculty will support you. One guy this year matched ENT, a couple matched ortho. Thats good for you if you can lie convincingly. Unfortunately for many of us however...we actually WANT to be rural Georgia doctors.

None so far...will keep everyone posted. Probably will be this weekend before we hear about the wait list. I think I mentioned it earlier, but I pulled my rejection letter out from last year. It was dated April 12...so wailists and rejections should be sent by around then this year. Good luck! Keep us all posted.

Just thought it may help to let yall know that the waitlists will be made out soon and hopefully that means you will hear something before end of next week. And rejections will be soon also.

Keep in mind that there will most likely be some good waitlist movement!
