Hi all,

I applied as an out of stater to UAB and have yet to hear ANYTHING from them. I haven't even received word if they received my AMCAS app back in July and so now I'm starting to get really worried. I e-mailed them about a month ago inquiring about my status and they just referred me to their webpage which said that they were behind due to flooding, which I can understand. Anyone else in my boat? Since I haven't received a secondary yet, can I just expect this one to be a flat rejection (I am an out of stater, after all)?

Thanks in advance.

I would call them if you haven't recieved a secondary and have competitive scores just to make sure something wasn't misplaced. I finished my AMCAS application in September and recieved a secondary about a week later. Once the secondary is sent you can check the status of everything from the webpage.

I received their email invite to fill out secondary as out-of-stater .. a while back.....the word is that they are quite behind schedule this year due to some new software they are trying to impliment......so i wouldn't worry too much.....but you can always call them and ask.....

So I finally decided to call them and they said that if you haven't heard anything, then you are typically still under active consideration. I retook the MCAT in August and so they were probably waiting on my scores and am now in the review process. Unlike some schools, they do send out rejections/acceptances throughout the year and so hopefully, at least you won't have to wait till late in the spring to receive word. Hope that helps.

i also applied as out of state and have heard nada. i've already interviewed at 3 schools. are they that competitive for out of state students? maybe i've convinced myself to call...

Last year's stats:

Non-Residents
Applied:1141
Interviewed:125
Accepted:61

Hope this gives you an idea.

I think those stats are for University of South Alabama, not UAB who interviews around 400 for a class of ~160.

Those are UAB's stats for non-residents. They interiview around 400 total.

I can tell you on personal experience that Oracle's new system sucks. Badly. We couldn't do anything financially related for 2 weeks.

I got accepted there EDP over a month ago and have yet to get a letter in the mail. I emailed the Admissions Director and he said it would be a week...that was three weeks ago. No one else I have talked to has theirs yet either. They must be having some real problems...
