Anyone heard from Vandy or waiting on Vandy?

😀 I was just wondering if anyone has gotten in off of the Vanderbilt waitlist or if a lot of people were hoping to...I just haven't heard much about Vandy on SDN. Thanks!

I was at the second look visit and it seemed like a lot of the folks were undecided at the time about whether Vanderbilt was for them or not. Many of those people were deciding between schools like Harvard, UCSF, Duke, etc. and it wouldn't surprise me if they chose the other schools despite how great Vandy is. So personally, I'd expect quite a bit of withdrawals. Keep you hopes up! Hope to see you in August 😀

I got a call from Dr. Helderman this morning offering me a place!!!! He alluded to the fact that my calling to show interest had helped my position. Good luck to all who are waiting.

What did you say when you called to show interest? Did you speak to Dr. Helderman? I am on Vandy's waitlist and looking for any suggestions that will help me get in! And congrats to you!

I called and only spoke to the receptionist, saying I was still interested in acceptance and whether additional letters would help. I then sent in a letter of interest and a letter of rec.

I heard from Dean Helderman yesterday too, and I decided today to go with Vanderbilt over Pitt (as I just posted in my other thread). I was really excited. If you honestly want to go to Vandy, showing interest definitely helps.

I just got the call from Dean Helderman. I wrote a LOI on the 19th in addition to several letters earlier this year (maybe 2-3 "update" letters). I asked for a few days to decide. He obliged, but seemed anxious for a quick answer.

I got in off the waitlist a couple days ago., but I had to turn it down. They definitely want a reply asap though. I got two days to think it over. Vanderbilt was my top choice, but it didn't make sense financially. It's such an incredible school though. Good luck, I hope you get in!

I decided to take the offer. I'll be going to Vanderbilt come August.
