Hi I wonder if any one can shine some light on this.patient with inoprable pancreas cancer. Plastic stent in bile duct changed 6 times. One of which was left in stomach as could not retract.metal stent in place now. 12 month later the patient has vomited violently and this lost plastic stent came up when vomiting!!!!!! No one can work out why this has happened, and why it was not retracted or moved larproscopy. All this happened under different hospital and the patient has been presented to us now for 2nd opinion. And to see if the lost stent has caused any dammage in the 12month inside. Stent is 4 and half inches long which is 11cm. 30fr. Any one hear any thing like this before

What does that mean

That means that you will likely not find a serious answer here - Or anyone that remotely cares.

The longer this post lingers, the more likely it will become that someone will accuse you of having us do your homework for you, or someone could even use vulger language while telling you to go away.

"Harrowing" might actually be the best answer that you will get on this forum. Do with it what you will.

Good luck!

I feel like this would be better answered by a med student/ MD...

As a practicing retail pharmacist, my response would be "You should definitely talk to your doctor about this."

I just can't believe that an MD/PhD student would spell and write that poorly.

😕

The OPs question does not require an answer, as it is not relevant. You are describing end stage pancreatic adenocarcinoma I presume of the head, with obstruction of the biliary cannaliuli. He has days to weeks to live, regardless of how many ERCPs with biliary stents they attempt. Do him a favor and make sure his physicians are not giving him gemzar or attempting more procedures and are instead getting him enrolled into hospice. I have put in PEG tubes in this populaton to help abate the vomiting from gastric outlet obstruction in the pts last few days of life.
