Program-Specific Info / Q's Anyone here applying to ADU for 2016?

I was thinking about applying but I'm not so sure since it's so far from home! (I live in va) but it would be a great opportunity if I was accepted! Does anyone know if they have rolling admissions?
 
I don't believe they do 🙁 I know their deadline is in March.
 
I also applied! I went to the open house last November and I really liked the school.
 
To those who applied previously and weren't accepted do you know why? And if you were accepted do you mind sharing your stats? I just want to be a little more knowledgeable of my chances!
 
To those who applied, have you heard anything???!!!

not specifically but I have a low gpa, and I think they are very selective, but its a great school so I thought it was worth to re apply. Did they tell you when they would let people know about interviews? I know the first interview session is this Friday.

Oh wow Friday? I haven't heard anything about interviews. That's reallyy close. How are they selective? & my gpa isn't the best either so we're kinda in the same boat.
 
Yeah they sent out the email with the interview sessions and the first one is this Friday. Good luck! And I'll keep you posted if I hear anything :/

When did they send it, I definitely didn't recieve it? :/ when are the other interview dates? But I just got an email saying that they haven't made a decision on my application yet but expect to have all decisions made by the end of this week. Crossing my fingers!

So they said the sessions would be the 11, 15,18 and 22, and I also got that email but I'm assuming they are not doing the 11 session lol
 
Got an interview as well. Really surprised the interviews are only 10 minutes. Makes it seem like they already have an idea of who they want and the interviews are just there to confirm their initial thoughts. Regardless, seems like we more or less have at least a 50% chance now which is nice.

My stats if anyone wanted to compare. Average I'd say.
GPA: 3.52
GRE: 309 4.5
Hours: 40+

I graduated in 2011 though and then taught in China for 3 years which is the big negative on my resume. So far so good though.
 
I have an interview as well! I'm from IL though so it was honestly kind of hard scheduling it because the first interview date is in 5 days! But regardless, I'll be interviewing on the 22nd! (and invested money into a flight and hotel..which was not cheap). So I reaaaaaally hope they accept me! I could use some warm weather year round lol

Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.57
GRE: (I am so terrible at standardized tests) 284 4.0
Hours: I worked as an OT tech for about a year and also completed around 50 observation hours in a pediatric, geriatric, outpatient, and school setting
 
Hello everyone!

I was also invited for an interview, which I am really excited about. Thankfully, I already live in Orlando and attend ADU, so the commute is not far away at all for me. I know they typically only accept 30 students for their incoming class (I have no idea how many they are interviewing). I wish everyone luck in this forum!

Anyways, here are my stats:

GPA: 3.7
GRE: 300 and a 4 on writing.
Observation hours: 80 hours (At both pediatrics center and nursing home/rehab center)
Volunteer hours: 120 at a Down Syndrome Center, 720 hours at a Mental Health Clinic, 42 hours as an Abnormal Psychology Teaching Assistant and over 1000 hours at a Veteran's hospital.
 
Around what time did they send the interview invitations??
 
I'm interviewing the 22nd, too!

I believe there were 56 spots available on the sign-up list and assuming every spot is filled then 26 of the applicants won't get in unfortunately. Gotta really impress in that 10 minutes haha.
 
I also counted how many interview slots there were! I'd say we all have pretty good odds if there are 56 slots and only 30 acceptances.
 
Oh wow! I just checked again and only 42 people are in the applicant pool. It also said multiple entries will be deleted. So I would assume not all 56 spots will be used. Which strengthens all of our odds! Where is everyone from?
 
Hey everyone!!! I am interviewing the 25, I also was surprised to see the interviews are only ten mins long!!!!!! aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!! anyways I am from Orlando as well. I really hope we all get in!!!!!
 
i dont like that they dont send confirmations for the interview, makes me feel like i didnt sign up
 
I am from Orlando too! Props to the people flying in from other states for a ten minute interview! I was told that the interview is 10 minutes long because the admissions board feels that they can tell if you're passionate about the program in 5! I hope everyone does well!
 
Holy cow!!!! That's insane. Good luck everybody! Keep me posted on how your interviews go and if you get accepted!

I feel the same way. Just have to trust you didn't eff up haha.

I'm from Orlando as well. And I like 30/47 odds much better 😀
 
I also got an invitation to interview but I will be passing up my spot as I have received other acceptances. Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone! I just had my interview this morning. I think it went really well! I was also able to tour the classrooms and labs after which was awesome! I really loved seeing the school and surrounding area since I'm from Illinois. (My other account had a glitch FYI so I am still knash27 in case you were wondering lol) I hope everyone else's interviews go well. For anyone that is still waiting to interview, they told me we would hear no later than Wednesday of next week! So quick turn around. Hoping to keep my anxiety levels down for the next week haha good luck to you all! 🙂

Don't! Just be yourself and you'll do fine. They already like you on paper they just have to love you in person!

I got in as well. It went to my promotions inbox so I'm glad I saw this thread or I wouldn't have checked that, haha. Congrats to you guys! I will definitely be attending since it was the only school I applied to, haha.
