Has anyone here used this book for organic chemistry? I heard some stuff about it, but too little feedback online. if you guys used it, was it any help at all? I'm thinking about purhcasing it. Also did anyone here ever use MSU virtual organic chemistry textbook?

Ah, yes I use that as well but I think I need something that really lets you get to understand mechanisms which apparently this book does. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with it.

My ochem textbook was solid. So no. I think Ochem as 2nd Language is pretty good.

I bought that pushing electrons book. Honestly, I never used it. I skimmed through it once, seemed like it would be pretty helpful to understand basic orgo concepts.

I used the Pushing Electrons for extra practice only. They have a lot of practice reaction.
OChem As A Second Language is awesome if you need a supplement for the textbook.

I guess its just a practice type of thing only then.

What do you guys think of MSU organic chemistry virtual textbook?

Can't comment on MSU's textbook, but for ochem one I tried to use only lecture material and made a B. Teacher only presented material in a way I could memorize it but not understand it.

This semester for ochem 2 I'm using "As a second language" and Iverson/Brown's Organic Chemistry textbook 7th ed. and I've made the highest grade in the class on the first two exams so far. Both are excellent at comprehension over memorization.

Want to really understand arrow-pushing mechanisms? Try Solomon's "Writing Reaction Mechanisms in Organic Chemistry." Probably more work than you want to put in if you are just trying to get a good score in organic I or II though.
