Anyone in a class where more people applied ESIR than spots available?

Just wondering what happened and what people who don't get selected for this do next. My class is prob gonna have 4 people apply ESIR for two spots. What are the next steps for the people who don't get selected but still want to do IR?

Likely they would have to do the 2 year fellowship. Get involved in IR research as much as they can during DR res. Go to SIR and make connections. Then apply for the fellowship match when the time comes.
