hi, i thought i recognized the name.
uchicago is a great school, and i can't actually think of one valid reason not to go there academically speaking. but i'm not too big a fan of the area. i can tell you that as a female who would be walking around by herself late at night from the hospital, i would not feel very safe. i can't really speak for you since you're not a girl 🙂 and i know you probably think i'm silly for that being my only reason, but it was 🙂
i love big cities, and i loved chicago, but i like being in the nicer part of big cities. i guess if i knew i'd be living in a secure home with an alarm or something and walking around only in the daytime, i'd maybe live there, but not under the circumstances that i will be forced to be in over the next four years. walking around late at night would be easier if i was 10 inches higher or 100 lbs heavier 🙂
that being said, i prefer some of the cali schools, and east coast schools. if i live in chicago, i'd go to northwestern where i also got into, i feel grateful to have been offered both, and i hope that i actually deserved them both 🙂. anyway, hope all is well with you and the apps in general.
