I have an interview at UNC-CH (out of state) on January 22nd!! Has anyone interviewed there/heard back already? If so, what was the interview like as far as setting, difficulty of questions, etc? I interviewed (and was accepted) at Emory and found it to be very laid back and easy-going. I am hoping UNC-CH is much the same! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted a similar request to yours a while ago, and haven't seen any reply yet. It may be because UNC's class is tiny (25 to 30 people max) compared to other schools.

Please check your direct message, we can communicate off-board.

Do you know what other dates they are interviewing besides Jan. 22nd? I applied, but haven't heard anything. I called a couple weeks ago to check on my application, but they wouldn't give out any information.

From what I understand, this is the first interview session and there should be a couple more after this one. Definitely do not lose hope yet! I have also tried to receive information via phone and email from them and they are very tight-lipped about it!! Much more so than at other schools.

Have any of you heard anything else from UNC-CH? I am also waiting to hear something from them and I'm getting nervous that maybe I didn't get an interview. I tried emailing but got no response. I'm trying not to panic but it worries me that there is already invitations being sent out and I haven't heard anything

No need to panic, as this is their first set of interviews. I have been in touch with Miss Shauni Lawrence at UNC, although I am not sure of her exact position title, and she has been good about responding. Other than this, I have not heard anything about how UNC prioritizes interviews or exactly what they look for. By the numbers I am above their avg for GRE and well below it for GPA. I have about 120 hours of field work, work outside school as an EMT and have solid recommendation letters. That being said, I am out of state and they only accept about 5 students per class from outside NC. To be quite honest, I was very surprised to hear from them. Moral of the story...not panic time quite yet!!

It is just frustrating because I got accepted into Elon and have to make a decision by February 4th. But I have a feeling I won't know about UNC yet by then. My overall GPA is 3.63 and my pre-req GPA is 3.85. My GRE scores are Verbal: 570; Q: 720; A: 5.0. Plus I have plenty of observation hours and good recommendations. Therefore, I think I deserve an interview but I did go to UNC-CH for my undergraduate degree and I know that they prefer not to take their undergraduates back for graduate or professional school so that makes me worried. But good luck on your interview!!!

Wow your statistics are better than mine in every respect. That has to be ridiculously frustrating for you!!!! I go to Furman University (small, liberal arts school in Greenville, SC) and have a 3.2 cumulative, 3.3 pre-req, 520 verbal, 700 quantitative and 4.5 writing. Interestingly, I have not even received an interview at Elon although I did apply! I interviewed and was accepted into Emory and was offered an interview, but declined it at Temple. I also applied to MUSC in Charleston and am waiting to hear from them. I did not know UNC is hesitant with re-accepting their own grads. Maybe this is a way to increase diversity, but to me it would sem that they should value their own means of education and actually WANT people whom have made it through the rigors of their own undergraduate school. But what do I know...

UNC interview is next weekend. There is only 1 interview day. You'll have two 30 minute interviews. I'd say medium on the laid-back/stress scale although it seems everyone has a different opinion. My interview advice is to not read too much in to the questions, relax, breath, take a moment to think if you need it, and speak with confidence even if you aren't sure what you are talking about.

Also, to dispel any myths. My 1st year class at UNC is about 25% out of state and another 25% went to UNC for undergrad.

katpk2132,

I don't know if this helps or not, but I received a letter yesterday from UNC-CH that was dated Jan. 3rd (but mailed on the 10th) telling me my application was denied. My GRE scores are about the same as yours, My overall GPA is a 3.9 and my pre-req GPA is a 3.8. I have plenty of observation hours in a variety of settings, great LORs, and extra curricular/volunteer activites. I'm not sure what they are looking for if they don't even offer me an interview. (Maybe they don't like non-traditional students. I'm 35.) I went to their info session over the summer and they said they had less than 300 applications last year and only @160 met their pre-reqs and min GPA and GRE scores. Hopefully, your interview invite will arrive late. My only consolation is that of the 3 schools I applied to, UNC was my 3rd choice and I only applied because of the in state tuition. Still sucks that I didn't even get offered an interview.

East Carolina did the same to me but I have an interview with UNC-Chapel Hill and I'm a little nervous too...I got into St Aug but if I can save money (40k) and go in-state then so be it!

yeah my letter came on Saturday. I didn't even get an interview with Carolina. I'm pretty upset about it. It doesn't really seem fair especially now that I know someone else with excellent stats got completely rejected too. I really don't know what they are looking for but it seems that I at least deserved an interview. Oh well. I already got accepted into Elon and have an interview with ECU a week from today. Unfortunately, Carolina was my first choice but life goes on. I'm thankful I at least got into one of my schools so I shouldn't complain too much
