Anyone just read the passages through for RC section?

I'm wondering if anyone had success just reading the passages through, as opposed to the mapping technique?

Yup. I read the first question, then start the passage. If I find the first answer, I mark it, then continue that way with the second question. It's pretty efficient if you can remember the gist of the article.
