Apparently it is a union job so the starting minimum wage is fixed, however I cannot find that information anywhere. Does anyone have an idea?

Lab techs have their own unions now?!??! What's next, a union for panhandlers?

Where are you applying? When I applied (not in NYC) to a university for a lab tech position, they listed a salary range for the job. I'd guess it'd be in the mid-high $20Ks though... (pre-taxes).

It varies from institution to institution. It will probably be mid to high 30s, possibly a little higher (I know LA/SF and Boston are in the mid to upper 30's range)

great, i think that's plenty to go off of. thanks everyone.

If it makes you feel any better, that's what I make in the mid-West after working as a lab tech for 6years.

$25k/yr in Missouri.

I know that at the place I used to work at, it was about $20-24/hour (and they got paid overtime with benefits).
