So I'm starting to ask profs. to write me letters of evaluation which are put on file and reviewed by the Premed Committee and used to write the LoR from the committee. So far I have ones from (assuming they did them) a Bio, Chem, Psych prof. and a PA that I shadowed. Right now I'm debating whether I should ask my World Religions teacher who likes me. I don't see how another LoR could hurt, but does it look desperate to have too many letters from prof. that aren't in the science department?

I think the only letter you should really avoid is one from a person who can agree to write a "positive letter about your future as a physician." If the person is even lukewarm about it try to find someone else.

Also, you want to follow the instructions for the schools. If they ask for 3 letters and 3 letters only then make sure that sending 5 is okay before you send 5. If they want 2 science and 1 physician, try to do that and if you can't be sure to have a legitimate reason.

Since you are just going to have a committee letter I'd call your committee and see what their rules are regarding this. I'd definitely go with more letters if you can so that they have more information about you.

I had a letter from a professor in Anthropology, Biology, and Chemistry.

You typically need 2 science and one non-science, along with a physician.

You'll need a physician and not a PA letter.

I'd suggest only asking for letters from professors that you got to know and did well in their class.
