Anyone on NYCOM's waitlist?
Started by fozzy40
Thanks, Riz khan: anyone else out there doing the same ?
Fozzy : How did your interview go ? How long after it were you placed on the waiting list ? please refresh my memory are u a New york resident ?
Well, I wasnt too pleased with my interview b/c a majority of it was devoted to clearing up some discrepencies on my application. Discrepencies that I have already explained to them prior to the interview. Everyone who went before me said that the interview was pretty laid back and that they "just want to get to know you". However, my interview was totally different. I think they were trying to intimidate me but I didnt even quiver. So, I think I did great but my main concern was that they didnt gain any new perspective of me as an applicant b/c they focused on things OTHER than me. When I followed up on my interview, the lady I spoke with said I did well on my interview. What she is basing this on beats me. I interviewed on Dec 8th and finally heard SOMETHING on Dec 24th, a deficiency letter stating I there were still questions about my application. Much to my frustration, these questions are the same things that they asked me about during my interview so I had to a bunch of calling to finally get my application clear. FINALLY, I was waitlisted on Feb 11th.....a mere 2 months later. haha......anyhow, good luck to you guys!

That's too bad Fred, you would think that after you were forced to clear up discrepancies at you r interview they would document your situation properly so you would not have to go through anything else. Anyways I am sure like most of us you have heard that NYCOM sometimes has called people up to the start of Day 1. so, be optimistic i am. Also, i think you are doing the right thing by studying for the MCAT again. I know I am even though I have an interview coming up. You always want to use your time productively until you get your chance.
That's fantastic good luck to you. Can you give us hopefuls some background info ? Stats, interview date, acceptance date, when you declined, etc, ?
I'm pulling out of my NYCOM spot as soon as I get an acceptance at SUNY UB or SUNY SB
That will give you guys another spot to fight over.
Good Luck

Im on the wait list there also. When does the onslaught of waitlist callups begin? Im really getting anxious amd Ive considered starting studying for the august MCAT since im not very optimistic about this situation. It seems everyone is waitlisted at NYCOM.
I had my interview Feb 22 and received my letter last week, on the 5th. I found out that I got into COMP today so will not be going to NYCOM. My MCAT scores were 6, 8, 9, Science GPA of 3.16, non-science 3.5, and overall 3.31. Good luck to everyone!!
AntGod22,
I just graduated from George Mason University in May 2001 with a BS in Biology. GMU is in Northern VA 20 minutes out of DC.
About my MCAT, yes they did ask me about my MCATs. He goes, "We have been reviewing your application for sometime now and there is a red flag when I look at it. What do you think it is?" I was kind of surprised that he asked me this way but I was anticipating this question. I simply said that I was not able to prepare for the MCAT because I was working too much. Plain and simple. He seemed to be okay with the answer and we continued with the "interview". Well, i'd be happy to answer any other questions🙂 Take care.

fred•••••no, Nov 2001 for the class of 2005 not 2006! It didn't matter to him since he got into KCOM.

I have visited both schools. Personally, I'd pick DMU just because of low cost of living, smaller class size (NY has 260 students!!), and less distraction. On the other hand, NYCOM does have a wide variety of clinical rotation sites although some are shared with the International students.

Fozzy,
I am not on the wait list but I interviewed pretty late on 4/11. I thought I wouldn't be accepted. I started off late that day because of the traffic and i sprained my ankle. i am crippling around the whole day 😡 😡
So, I am quite suprise I got an acceptance letter. It is going to be a tough choice because I liked DMU's school environment. This school have early exposure to physical diagnosis and they hired actor and actress for student to practice. And the dean put more focus on student education than research. Any suggestion?? 😕 😕 😕
