I posted this in the International forum but also wanted to post here. I am wondering if anyone studied Occupational Therapy in Canada (e.g. a top school) and then studied and took the NBCOT exam. I am wondering how difficult you found the exam, how you prepared and how you found employment. Thanks!

Check out Bridge Travel Healthcare - they're a NYC based healthcare firm that guides OTs from Canada through the process to become eligible to work in the US and then sponsors for work at their healthcare facilities.

I wonder if USA citizens can work in Canada that would be a nice experience.

I too am wanting to work in Canada once I graduate. Anyone done this process in reverse?

Anyone tried to make contacts in Canada to do observation hours?

I tried calling one health care enter in Canada cold and was not successful. Was told that the term for the same is shadowing so will have to try to call another clinic. Are there as many positions for OTs in CA needing workers as in the US?

I'm curious about getting an OT job in the UK or Ireland. I tried to research, but there isn't much out there. The salaries seem to be on the low side.

It is doable to do the reverse and work in Canada. The process is quite similar to the US in that you have to take their national exam(only offered twice per year), become licensed and seek and employment visa. However, most jobs for OTs in Canada right now are out west in BC and Alberta. The jobs are far and few between though, so prob not best to do the reverse right now.

Ireland has 0 OT jobs right now. The UK there are positions, but they're difficult to obtain if you're not a citizen.

All the jobs seem to be in the US right now for OT. However, I've heard some people find opportunities in Australia if that's of interest.

That's to bad about Canada. Not a huge fan of Alberta area haven't seen BC but really enjoy my visits to Ontario- Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal. I guess I'll be keeping any travel positions in the USA.
