as the title says, has anyone taken their exam at 4:30pm?

was it too late?
where you too tired?

when did you sleep the night before/what time did you wake up?

i currently have DAT date of july 17 at 1:30pm, but need some more time, so i want to push it back to the end of the month.. july 28th at 4:30pm or july 31st at 1:30pm are my options.. August 1st is considered "not early" for appllication submissions, so but i want to submit the app a few days earlier, not last minute on the 31st.

also, we find out our scores right away correct? that way i can come home, write in the scores, and submit the e-application.

I took it at 4:30, i really like it b/c before i had taken it in the morning twice, didnt do good. I dont like to wake up early. I slept around 12 something or 1 o clock not sure. I had good sleep, I woke up around 10. I liked it b/c i did little review in the morning and then went to gym. Just take it at the time that is really comfortable to you. Sometimes its hard to fall asleep and then waking up in the morning will be tough.

i think it all depends on how you personally function best. i know that if i went in at 4:30 instead of 1:30 i wouldn't be as fresh, plus spending the entire morning/early afternoon freaking out.

a few months ago this guy wrote that he took the dat three times: the first time his appt was for something like 8am, and the night before he was so nervous he couldn't sleep, and so he was burnt out before he even began. next time around, he thought a late afternoon would be better, but by then it just didn't work out for him either. third time was midday, and that was when he did his best. sure you could chalk it up to him also not being prepared enough the first 2 times, but i think the appointment time definitely makes a difference.

just wanted to point out - don't wait till you take your test to submit just so you can write in the scores!! you can write down when you're planning to take the test and submit that, and then just send schools your scores after the fact. unless it's also that you haven't finished something like your ps.

I took my exam at 8 AM. But I had prepared myself to be alert and focused at that time. I noticed while I was studying when my peaks and lows were in my day. Everyday, around 1 PM(this was after waking up at 6:30 to get used to test day) I would feel a sudden and urgent need to take a nap. To counter act this effect, i would drown my body's internal signals with caffeine. Just think about your class schedule. What classes are you most attentive. what ones do you NEED to have coffee in to stay awake. If you funcition best at midday- take midday. Simple.

I really dont think this is something that you should be worrying about. Put all your worries and cares into the 6 sections of the dat. Everything outside those subjects is meaningless and secondary (to a certain limit of course)

Good luck!

I took mine at 4:30

as everyone's said, depends on the type of person you are.

I always sleep late/wake up late; esp in the summer, i don't go to bed til past 2am and wake up usually around noon, so waiting til 4:30 wasn't a big deal.

It sounds though that you'd be more comfortable with the 1:30 slot. you should go with that one. there's only 3 days difference btw that one and the other 4:30 option. 3 days def won't make or break your app. either way you're fine. gluck

my only choice for 1:30 is if i take it on July 31st, which is a Friday.. the next day, after August 1st, applications arent considered "early" anymore.. so i was thinking I should take the DAT a few days before that, write in my scores, and submit the application

someone mentioned i should send in my application before hand.. i know you can do that, but they dont even look at the app if its incomplete. plus, if i have to "send the DAT scores to the schools" after already submitting the e-application, how would i go about sending those scores? online system, or by mail?

i think id be most comfortable around 12-1:30 area...

also im sure its pointless to "review" before the exam.. if you dont know it by test date, you wont know it. my dentist gave me some advice. he said the day before the exam dont even study anymore.. just relax, keep your mind off the test, and spend the day with your gf 😉

i know this is true, but i asked a similar question a few weeks ago and the responses were to send it in anyway. it could take weeks for aadsas to review everything and even a little longer for them to send it to schools. even longer than it might take for the dat center to process your scores to schools. word on here is that they give a little leeway if your app is already waiting at the school sans dat scores, and you fax them a copy of your score report so they might take a peek at you. official dat scores apparently take 3-4 weeks after your test to be mailed out to schools!

watch, i bet if you created a new thread on the regular predent forum asking the question of whether you should wait to submit solely for the reason that you want to be able to put in your dat scores, they'd all say you're crazy. there's a reason that window is there for "future test date."

my test is on the 26th, but i submitted before the end of june. you never know what might get held up! good luck!

thanks man...

i spoke to my dentist, who used to read DAT apps and stuff for schools way back when.. she said they dont look at incomplete applications

basically there is the:
your are in pile
you are rejected pile
maybe pile
incomplete

and being in the in, rejected, maybe is better than the incomplete

so im a lil stuck at figuring this whole thing out. if i knew that there is NO worries, i would have sent in my app june 1 and the DAT scores on July 30th

maybe ill send in my app July 20, take my DAT July 30th, the ten days shouldnt be a problem i dont think
