Anyone take their MCATs at the end of their Sophmore year?

Just curious, is there anyone here in SDN that has taken their MCATs near the end of their Sophmore year of undergrad? If you did, mind telling me which science course you took to complete you Pre-med requirements during your Freshmen and Sophmore year? Thanks!

I had lots of friends that did. Between courses and A.P.s I had Intro Bio, Genetics, Organic I and II, Physics I and II, Physical Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. You'll notice I had no anatomy or physiology in there, so simply had to teach it to myself. Very possible, and probably one of the best decisions I ever made. Go for it.

tons of people do it: here was my schedule. i'll only list science courses which fulfill the premed requirement, and i'll keep the names generic

freshman yr fall:
accelerated gen chem (for me, it was inorganic chem...)
physics I (calc based)
multivar calc

freshman yr spring:
organic chem I
linear algebra
genetics and genomics (bio I)

sophomore year fall:
organic chem II
molecular biology

sophomore year spring:
physics II (calc based)
cell biology
advanced org lab

and you're all set to go!

Why take the MCAT more than once?🙄 😀

By the end of sophomore year, I had taken Calc III, Linear Algebra, intro bio, gen chem, orgo, orgo lab, evolutionary bio, biochem, and physics. Took the MCAT at the end of my sophomore year and have never looked back.

I took the MCAT in the summer after my sophomore year, upon completing Physics 2. Before that I took Microcellular Bio 1&2 with lab for 2, Mollecular Genetics and Cellular Biology with labs, Chem 1&2 with labs, Orgo 1&2 with one semester of lab. I also wish I'd taken Physiology and Anatomy, but I did fine.

I too took the MCAT August after my sophomore year. I took a prep class over the summer, but before that I had AP credit for all English classes, Intro bio 1 and 2 with lab, Intro and organic chem, (both one and two) with lab, a molecular and cell bio class (the BEST bio prep by far, covered SO much of the bio section), and one semester of human anatomy&phys with lab.

I had no physics, which isn't what I would recommend, but I absolutely am SO glad I took the MCAT when I did. It gave me time to retake and not be late at all if I needed to, also, when all of my other friends were stressing about the biochem test the day before the MCAT, I was fine. It totally eliminated all outside stressors because I dedicated the whole summer to the MCAT. If you can swing it, do it. 🙂

I'm taking the MCAT after my second year. I have AP credit for Gen Bio and Gen Physics, and I took the following:

1st fall:
Gen Chem I + Lab
Geography
Fresh. Seminar

1st Spring:
Gen Chem II + Lab
Geography
Psychology
Physics I Lab
Intro to Literature

2nd fall:
Orgo I + Lab
Cell Bio
Stats
History
Physics II Lab

2nd Spring (this term):
Orgo II + Lab
Genetics
Physiology
Humanities

I'm taking the MCAT finals week, so I'll have the bio section down very good. I'm worried mostly about my PS section, and somewhat about my verbal. But I'm also graduating next year, so I guess it's not the same thing that you're asking.

I'm a sophmore and I'm taking MCAT next monday (for the first time).I'm also planning on graduating early. Anywaz, I completely recommend that you take it after your second year if you have all your pre-reqs taken care of. Take it while everything is fresh in your mind. It really helps.

I did it. Did well. Took all prereqs beforehand. Only regret is that I didn't have physio. (I think it would have raised my BS score 1 point.)

I took it at the end of the summer after my sophomore year. It was really really nice having a whole summer to study (and do research too) without worrying about GPA, classes, etc.
