Just wondering if anyone as any inside information regarding the perio/prosth section for the exam? Is there anything we can review for it?

Also, whats the debate with these slot preps? I read that some people strongly advise against it? Any other opinions about that?

I've also heard that slots aren't your best bet, but you can also lose points if you "overdiagnose", so there may be some cases where a slot is your best option. I don't know, I'm so stressed about WREB! As far as perio/prosth, our profs are basically saying they have NO IDEA what's on it, esp. since it's all on computer now. Good luck to us both, right?

I took the test in Portland last year, composite pt didnt show.
try not to go with a slot prep I think it wont cost u a thing to extend occlusaly and be on the safe side, right?
As far as the study material is concerned I have no idea, but I think the pros is gonna be the same as before which was decent. It used to be 50 questions, it's still 50. But the perio used to be like 8 now its 50 so I guess its gonna be somehow different.
I am sitting for the test in Florida, How about you?????

When I took it, almost everyone in my class did the amalgam and composite combo. Slot preps are fine, but just make sure that the groove isn't stained at all. It says that you can leave stains, but that's not really true for the composite. So if there's any question about the groove, then go ahead and do the occlusal part. It's your safest bet for the composite. DO NOT attempt a slot prep for amalgam. One of the foreign trained instructors did that and failed. One of the floor examiners is a clinical instructor at our school and he told us that if it was white, then it wasn't right.
The pros section is ridiculously easy if you know what good preps and dentures look like. Don't study for that...nobody does. The perio is just as ridiculous seeing as how you can bring your book in. Just forget everything they taught you in school and diagnose by what the candidate guide says. And don't think everybody in there has perio. There's always a couple of dental students as patients, and they have a clean bill of health.
