I will be attending school in the fall (Northeast) and am contemplating bringing my Panigale V4. I know come winter I will have to store her for most of the time (I also have a JKU wrangler), but during summer it would help me with travel costs + I love riding. Hope I find a place with a small garage. Wifey is a RN and will also be moving with me to work there. Anyone also into bikes who are doing this and/or have brought their bikes to dental school? 👍

I'm not sure I understand. What would be the alternative? Selling it?

You sure can keep it. you have a decent amount of time to do things you want in dental school. It is not an all consuming hell outside of finals weeks. honestly I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I can't afford a bike or the maintenance cost and do not have a garage but if I did I would definitely do all of those things. One of my classmates had a bike and it got stolen outside of his apt.

No alternative just wanted to hear experiences and thoughts from those who have done so. 👍🏻

I bike to school every day. But the type that doesn’t have a motor. I don’t know about motorbikes, but the weather definitely takes a toll on my bike, but I also buy cheap and don’t take good care of it. During the winter, or when the road is wet, I have a thin waterproof layer I throw overtop my clothes. It’s uncomfortable, but my commute is only 5-15 minutes, so even if I’m freezing, it is tolerable. Check on the parking situation at the school. I’ve lost a bike per year because the racks are off to the side , but if you’re a motorbike parking in the garage, I’m sure that won’t be an issue for you.

We have a couple people who ride at my school, including myself....just not a ducati...you lucky sob

Hey that’s not nice! Haha I’m no sob lol

Until I also have a ducati you're a sob lol all jokes aside thats a nice ride, I suspect that the dean of our dental school actually rides too but im not positive.

what school? Does it snow a lot there? Ill be in Maine so no good in the winter for bikes. But some amazing scenery and roads to enjoy during spring/summertime

haha just talked to my classmate who had a motorcycle. He said it was stolen during the winter, and he got it back when the thief hit a car and completely wrecked it. he basically got a stack of parts that was junk.

unfortunately he had some minimum insurance for the winter that didn't cover theft, so he ended up getting nothing 🙄

but hey he is now leasing a brand new BMW in his D4 year! nothing like using your student loan $$ to lease a car you can't afford 🤣

ofc he could have a very lucrative side hustle or rich family I don't know about but generally recommend against doing this for all you other pre-dents 🙂

I'm assuming you'll be able to garage it. I'd be too upset with my bike being boosted to ever not garage it, can't imagine keeping a panigale somewhere accessible. Also not sure daily driving a panigale is going to save money when you factor in the service costs, but haven't done the math and that's not really the point of that bike anyway

True! I will only ride in the summer/spring warm days, I have a JKU as a daily driver, and my wife (who is a RN and coming with me) will be living with me, we will def. get a place with at a garage. I would never leave that bike out, cold or warm weather. Also, UNE is in a calm and rural setting, so I'm not too concerned with theft, etc. But obv. would be cautious regardless. Its my second panigale so I'm aware of services (its actually not bad). 👍
