Anyone using Slack for communication in their department?

We are trying to improve communication within my anesthesia department and reduce the email burden so are considering Slack - has anyone used it? Thoughts?

We used it as a class throughout medschool, but only the free version though. They limit the amount of old messages we can access. It's more efficient than email.

My wife uses it at her start-up. It's terrible. She is constantly on Slack. Everyone expects an immediate response. Emails that you can ignore are infinitely better.
