I am hoping for some sort of a timeline. My first choice is OHSU, but one of my professors didn't get her letter of recommendation sent out till the very last week of december. (She had already written it for other schools, and I asked her to mail it in early october - I am really upset.) My application was complete jan. 3, and I am just wondering from the rest of you how long it took to hear about an interview, and how long after the interview it took to hear back from them. I am just getting antsy! And did any of you apply to MPH/MD?
Thanks! 🙄

Thanks! 🙄 •••••OHSU sent me a postcard that essentially said not to worry about an interview until you've waited 12 weeks from when your application was complete. I'm not sure if they are moving faster now, but I got my interview almost 12 weeks later to the day. But don't worry too much about time, I just had a friend who came back from interviewing there and they told him that they accept very few rolling and the first person to interview has the same chance at acceptance as the last. So although the wait blows, at least it doesn't seem to hurt your odds at matriculating! Best of luck!

My app was complete there on 11/16. I didn't hear from them about an interview until January 23, and then only because I kept calling them to see if they were going to offer me one so I could coordinate with other west coast interviews. My official snail mail invite was postmarked 1/29.

mpp -- I would call them if I were you. Jennifer, who answers the phone there, is very nice despite the discouraging voice mail message you have to sit through before talking to her.

King Lear, I'm curious about why you think OHSU is sooooooo cool!! Please share.

Good luck to all potential rusty ducks!! 😀

You should receive a postcard telling you that everything is completed. They do not accept many before March 15, so I would say just be patient. You may want to call to ensure things were received, but essentially the date you interview has little effect on if you get accepted.
Good Luck

mpp- I would call them. My friend called because he had not heard and they had mistakenly placed his file in the incomplete pile. I would make contact with them because you should have received a postcard indicating your file was complete

King Lear -- do you really mean that? If so, why do you think so? I grew up in Portland and think OHSU is a great school, but my favorite schools are elsewhere. Maybe it will help me to hear your perspective...

My application was complete in September. I was offered an interview in mid-November, interviewed late November, and had my acceptance letter on December 19th. A friend of mine interviewed there two weeks ago and they told him that they had only accepted 14 people at that time. I agree that it is on of the coolest med schools anywhere. Reasons:
1. Portland and the NW are the best
2. ONE CLASS AT A TIME.
4. class ends at NOON, except one day/week for Principles of Clinical Medicine (small group work, problem-based learning)
5. great facilities
6. friendly people
7. spectacular view
