Is it just my perception or are a lot of schools moving a lot slower this cycle? When I look around several forums it seems like not only IIs but also post interview decisions are taking longer.

Did anyone else notice this? If so, did anything change this year that could possibly explain this?

I feel like most folks also feel like things are moving slower. Possible reasons for this that I have seen include:

1) Thanksgiving was earlier this year and the break may have slowed down AdComs.
2) New AAMC traffic rules that may be encouraging schools to extend less offers and rely more on waitlists. Someone else can better explain this theory ...

Thanks for confirming! What are the new traffic rules?

I forgot another reason:

3) AAMC meets in November and it has been said that things slow down leading up to their meeting. Schools may adopt the new traffic rules now that this meeting is over.

Every year I have been advising applicants, and it has been many years, I always get the question are things moving slower. It is about the same speed every year. And for some you who get on waitlists, the cycle will go on perhaps all the way to August when you get a last minute acceptance

It is possible that time seems to be passing slower if you are actually waiting yourself 🙂

You are likely caught in the Hawkins-Feinman Time-Space Corollary to Murphy's Law where longer you wait on any desired event, the slower time becomes.
The Ancients knew about this phenomenon. They used to say "a watched pot never boils".
