I'm applying for the fall of 2012. I made a 19AA 19 TS 21 PAT on the DAT. My gpa is 3.6 sci and 3.6 overall. I've worked for a dentist for over 300 hours and have over 100 hours of shadowing. I have a lot of extra circ activities as well. I was wondering if I should do anything else before I apply (comm service, research, etc.). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Research looks very good to admissions committees, especially if the school you apply to is a top research school. I've had a couple of people who were accepted to med schools and dental schools that they think their community service is what set them apart. Picking one thing to volunteer at consistently over a long period of time would look really good. Keep up your GPA and if you can afford it you may consider retaking the DAT.

research, committed community research and leadership experience is great to add. btw, be sure to apply in june and not in the fall if you don't plan on retaking the dat (which imo you don't need to retake). earlier is usually better so you'll get in the first round of interview invitations, which begin in august.
