Just wanna let everyone who think that pharmacy technician or any kind of experience in the health care is a must to be admitted is important but without that, you have fair chances of getting in too.
i had a Pcat score of 83 with an overall GPA of only 3.0 in my Pre-Req. and NO vlounteer experience. But i did got into Midwestern University in Arizona and SIUE. The only thing that helped me got into the pharmacy school was the interview. And also if other colleges had have sent me an interview letter, i woudl have been accepted. So, if anyone who does not have any experience or whose gpa is not good, they should not lose hope. Interview IS one of the major factor in the admission process. I would only say to work hard to prepare for the interview and show them who you really are whether they like it or not, but only in a professional way. Goodluk to all of you who went for the interview.

First, I want to say GREAT JOB!!!

However, giving people that advice is not helpful. This process is much to competitive and often up to chance, so thinking that you can just blow off some aspect of your application is foolish! There are some people with better stats that did not even get an interview!

The interview is just part of the whole picture. Glendale puts much weight on their interview, but other schools do not. I am an example of that. I interviewed back in November with Glendale and was disappointed with my overall interview. I have interviewed for many teaching positions and know when my interview is "on" or not. I was not bad, just not outstanding (as you were). Then, in April I interviewed with Creighton and I was "on." The interviewer even complimented me on my performance and said that I really seem like I know what I am getting into. Yet, I sit on the alternate list for both schools.

Make your application as complete as possible, do mock interviews, be willing to move anywhere (something that I can't do) and pray!

My own opinion so take it with a huge lump of salt...

I believe that the volunteer/work experience is essential to someone going into the pharmacy field, because it'll really show you if this is what you want to do.

Some people are a little disillusioned by it all, whether by the salary or by pressure from parents. Yes, EC's are great for your CV, but I just think that it'll help you with your own decisions that much more...

So, like the above post said, don't blow off the volunteer opportunities you have before you. Yes, I understand that the point of the OP wasn't to tell you to blow it off, but to give hope to those that never had a chance, but I just didn't want there to be a mixed message.

I am about the same stat but MWU-CPG never send me anything. If I were called for an interview, (I am good at impressing people) I would've been accepted then...

But hey...good job!!!

i called them and asked them about my status. i had to get bak to MWU-CPG so i told them that yesterday was the last date of the deposit to be postmarked. so they just told me on the phone.

I WOn't say anything about the luck, because the only thing i was sure was that i was confident, so confident that i REALLY enjoyed the interview process. I STRONGLY DO AGREE WITH THE FACT THAT ANY KIND OF VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE IS IMPORTANT because of the competition nowadays. you had to be a step ahead. but in my case, i didnt had the time to devote myself to that experience. Wanted to give encouragement that whoever feels that they are not gonna get into the pharmacy college should not lose hope and have the fair chances of getting in. i think interviewers do beleive the fact that there are always late bloomers. 🙂

Hey...I really appreciate your encouragement. seriously..I was just a bit jealous. I agree with you though, I never lose hope. 😀
