When building a school list, I was just curious if there are any other schools like UW that, on MSAR appear OOS friendly, but in reality it is based on regional agreements? Like with UW, if you are OOR (outside of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) it is like a 0.7% chance of admittance. Are there any other schools that are deceptive like this (deceptive on MSAR, not their websites)

Here are a few from an old list I have

•WICHE: Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education operates a professional student exchange program (PSEP) enabling students in 15 western states to enroll in selected out of state professional programs,
•WWAMI: The University of Washington School of Medicine serves as the public medical school for Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Students from these states will all be considered in- state students for purposes of admission and tuition.
•FAME: Finance Authority of Maine’s Maine Access to Medical Education Program has three medical schools (Dartmouth, Vermont & UNECOM) to provide PREFERRED ACCESS seats at each school for a total of twenty incoming, certified Maine residents each year. Essentially, this program removes Maine applicants from the national pool of applicants and allows them to compete for medical school acceptance in a pool consisting solely of Maine residents.
•DIMER: Delaware Institute of Medical Education and Research relationship with Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University with at least 20 admissions places each year for Delaware residents. Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), reserves at least 5 admissions places each year for Delaware residents.

Tufts also has a Maine track for ME residents

How about Utah? They accept ~30 students each year out of Utah, out of which 10 are from Idaho. ~3000 applications for 20 OOS spots doesn't seem worth it.

Just found out that UN Reno only accepts Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Utah and like 5 counties of rural California.

Interesting: if the Maine Track prefers Maine residents, it could mean that otherwise-strong applicants get waitlisted or rejected from out-of-state, no?

As much as any other state school that also accepts OOS favors its IS applicants. Mainers are a particularly loyal bunch to their home state, though, and an overwhelming amount of them actually mean it when they say they want to move back to Maine for life (coming from a MA resident)
