Anything wrong with a pre-med sending an EM attending or fellow a polite, professional e-mail asking if they would mind answering a few questions on their career?

Would it be better to include the questions in the original e-mail or to send them once you've they've expressed a willingness to answer?

It seems kinda awkward, it might be better to email the secretary of the a group or residency coordinator. Then, they can see if anyone if interested in helping you.

What would you want to know that you can't find out on SDN? There are some amazingly helpful people on here... premed all the way up to attending. I doubt there is any question about an EM career that couldn't be answered on here.

Actually, I would bet that most questions already HAVE been answered and a careful search on here will reveal the answers.

Gonna have to second that one. Unless the attending was someone who was intimately involved with med school admissions I'm not sure what earth-shaking information they would be providing. As a pre-med the best thing you can do for your future career is to a) get accepted to med school and b) start kicking ass there.

There's always the mentor forum too! Or the confidential consult forum if you don't want to be identified for some reason.
