Are there any dually accredited TRI/TY programs out there? according to AOA opportunities website none exist...

It looks like if you are applying to sub-specialty (ortho, optho, derm, radiology etc) ACGME programs that are "advanced position" (meaning you have to find your own internship somewhere else) then your transition year must be either ACGME approved OR an AOA program in "pre-approval" status for ACGME accreditation. There are currently ZERO TRI in preapproval status.

I had one program tell me that they will NOT accepted a AOA accredited internship anymore starting this year after the announcement of the merger. for those that took USMLE Step 1 and 2, this is really not an issue but for those of us that only have comlex scores, how do we get our foot into a ACGME transition year to move onto our residency spots when the majority of these transitional year programs require USMLE scores and we can no longer do AOA TRI???

You could just do an ACGME pre-lim medicine/surgery year depending on the advanced position you're going for.

Programs just started (in July of this year) applying for accreditation, and something tells me TRIs are low on their priority lists. The good news is that all any of those programs have to do is submit an app for accreditation to get pre-accredited status. If I were you and I was really interested in a TRI, I would contact all TRIs you're interested in and see if they intend to apply this year. Then in Jan, only rank programs that get pre-accredited.

Also, to be clear, this change of ACGME programs not accepting AOA training was put into place before the merger, and pre-accreditation in the merger is part of the agreement the ACGME and AOA came to pretty much because of that policy change.
