hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong section (tried going into the physician section but it says i don't have privileges). i'm a DO and i'm graduating this year from a ACGME emergency medicine residency in california. as part of my transition to an attending i was looking up the CME requirements and i'm a little confused on whether or not i need to obtain AOA specific category 1 credits.

i will be ABMS/ABEM board eligible this summer (and hopefully board certified by this time next year). do i need to adhere to only the ABEM requirements? or do i still need to obtain AOA specific credits?

all help is appreciated, thanks.

For state licensure, it all depends on the state.
Preface this next comment with this is for myself in pediatrics. For board certification it depends if you want to do an osteopathic board certification. I personally didn't take the osteopathic Peds boards. The American board of pediatrics is enough for me. I don't maintain my aoa membership, I don't report any cme to them, the aoa has no effect or control over me at this point, it's all through the aap and abp.
