Hi,

I was wondering, how do you combine and study both Barron's Ap and Cliff note at the same time?

Thanks🙂

Read through Cliffs and take comprehensive notes.

Read through Barons and fill in the gaps of knowledge missing in Cliffs.

Thank you🙂 so do you think barron's is more detailed than cliff?

Yeah barron's was more detailed. However, the two book both have some information that the other book didn't cover; barrons just has more of it.

If you're lazy/don't have enough time, just note up barrons.

Dr. Goldberg makes the information more digestible and barrons has prettier pictures. 😀

Thank you 🙂 that is helpful. What about kbb?

KBB will get you an 18-19. The problem is that they don't cover all the info that the DAT covers. If you're a good notetaker, bypass it and get your bio notes off of Barons+Cliffs.

I primarily relied on KBB on my GC/OC sections and I received my lowest scores on those sections.

At some point after Dec, I'm going to write up a DAT breakdown... step 1 on my future quest to become an SDN moderator 😀.

I took the DAT twice, first time I went through cliffs ~2x's and did a Kaplan course, made an 18 on bio. The second time I went through Barrons 1.5x's thinking I'd switch it up, but the style of the book just didn't fit me as well. It's true that cliff's is more dense and probably more dry (harder to read), but I tend to prefer bullet points, so that style fit me better. After doing Barrons 1.5x's very early in my prep (so early that I probably forgot it all), I did cliff's 4-5 times through and made a 22 in bio. Those #'s are greatly skewed by the fact that the 2nd time through I was much more motivated and changed a few tactics to improve my efficiency, but...just thought I'd share my 2 cents.

Both books lack a few details that the other book has (Been like a year since I was in the DAT game, but if i remember correctly i think Cliffs had better reproduction/embryology and too much plants, and I think Barrons had better bone stuff but really lacked in plants)

I would recommend doing both if you can, and tossing KBB aside EXCEPT for their practice questions/exams--I found those helpful. Also do DATQvault, another helpful question bank.

Good luck!

Thank you for the detailed information. For me Barron's AP has a better explanation and ordering topics. I am just having hard time reading and understanding facts as they are listed in cliff notes. But maybe I should still force myself to go over cliff notes as well.
