So I got tons of AP credits from high school that my undergrad university accepted. I just read that SCCO does not accept AP credits for any of their prerequisites! Which means I will have to take Calculus again :scared:

I was surprised because the requirement page from their website didn't mention it at all. Are there other schools that have this rule as well?

really? wow. I was under the impression that they did. I know I asked berkeley and I think SUNY. They accepted it as long as it was in my university transcript. Great, now I have to retake calc 1 if they don't accepted AP credits.

does anyone know if IB credits are transferrable?

I also saw that NECO doesn't accept AP credit if a 3 was received.... I got a 3 in Calc.. and some other stuff. Dangit.

so does SCCO flat out reject APs? I got a 4 on the calc, but I am applying to SUNY UHCO UCBSO SCCO and ICO.... did you email the schools directly for find this info?

SCCO made some changes to their pre-reqs this year (after the '13 cycle), so I think it would be in all of your best interests to call them personally and ask about the AP/IB credit situation. Or you can ask Dr. Munroe in her facebook group.

ceely, usually IB credits fall under the same restrictions as AP or worse because too many schools still don't recognize them (which is dumb because they're often more challenging than AP credits). My university didn't even recognize my IB credits because I didn't take the AP tests... which is why I'm taking calc now, as a senior 👎

I emailed her this morning and she confirmed my fears. *sigh*

I reeallly do NOT want to re-take calculus. But maybe I will have to. Does anyone else have info regarding the AP credits policies for other optometry schools?

UHCO accepted my credits because they were on my transcript.

Well I got A in calc 1 and A- calc 2....

would i want to take calc again for a second time like these people have to? hell no

Good for you. If schools don't take AP classes, they're not going to make an exception for you. You could just not re-take them "like these people have to" and try to get in anyways, but I doubt you'll have any luck.

yep... sucks. I am retaking calc. just for scco (so far). Not a problem because I actually enjoy math, but it kinda ruined my plans. I am just waiting on ICO and UHCO to see if they allow it. Oh well 🙁
