Does anyone know how these are reviewed in your applications? And what your thoughts are regarding AP scores to fulfill requirements?

Specifically, I am interested in using an AP english score to satisfy half of UCSF's english requirement. But CollegeBoard sends out full score reports and I have really BAD SCORES (like 2's) in the Hist, Gov, etc. tests.

Do you think the admissions committees look at your reports or just use them to filter and confirm whatever you have in your transcripts/applications? I'm debating just taking a community college course and skipping the AP hassle altogether.

Depends on the school. Most schools will accept your AP English credits ONLY if your undergraduate school accepts it. Some schools don't accept ANY AP credits even if your undergrad gives you credit. If that is the case, you would have to retake English if you happen to be admitted into that particular school. Check the ADEA guidebook or find doc toothaches prereqs list for each school.

In terms of the rest of the AP scores, I highly doubt schools would care what you got in psych, hist, etc.
Are you sending your Collegeboard score report directly to UCSF? I'm in a similar predicament as you.

Honestly it's only UCSF I need it for. UCSF counts only one of the 4 writing classes I took (according to Assist.org). All other schools that I've researched so far accept the rest of my prerequisite courses.

For UCSF they ask you send your AP scores directly to their office according to their website.
So that is what I plan to do.

You do NOT send an AP score report to dental schools.

Instead, you just put the courses into AADSAS exactly as they appear on your transcript. Say you made a 5 on AP bio and got credit for BIO 101 at your university because of it. You'd literally just input that with a grade of "P" (or whatever is on your transcript). If your school gave you credit for it, that's what matters.

"Q: How do I list Advanced Placement (AP) coursework?
A: List the college/university that originally posted your Advanced Placement coursework in the Colleges Attended section. Then, in the Coursework section, enter the AP courses for which you received credit. Indicate in the "special designations" section that the courses are AP."

UCSF specifically their page says this: In order to have AP Tests applied towards the prerequisites, applicants must submit an official copy of their AP Test Score Report from Educational Testing Services (ETS). Using School Code 5482, you may contact ETS at ets.org to request that a copy of your score report be sent to our office.

Probably best to check with each school individually, but I think UCSF is one of a few schools wanting official reports. It looks like, from my research so far, you need to send reports if you are using AP Scores to satisfy any prerequisites.. which makes sense.

Wow! I had never heard of a school requiring this, and I had over 30 AP credits on my transcript (some of which were pre-reqs). None of the schools I applied to wanted an actual score report.

Does anyone know of other schools that want score reports?

Yes, this is true. UCSF would require an official AP report. This is in line with my undergrad UC who do not even report our AP scores on our transcripts. However, UCSF told me that they would only request it if they feel like they need to (usually just after acceptance and before matriculation)

Awesome. Then problem solved! I don't have to worry about AP scores unless they ask
