The U.S. House of Representative's version of the
Federal Mental Health Parity bill (H.R. 1424) is
FINALLY going to be taken up in the next week. Please contact your reps through the APA Capwiz website by following this link. Although the link is to the American Psychological Association website, you can still use the link if you are a psychiatrist/psych resident. This bill must be passed so that mental health is covered by medicaid and medicare:

Thanks for the heads-up, but this actually passed yesterday.
The next step is to get some kind of agreement between the house and senate bills in conference.

What affect will the passing of this legislation have upon reimbursement for psychiatrists in the future?

Right. It was in the headlines today. We just need to hope for a comprehensive agreement on the bill between the two branches.

Last thing I read said Bush will support the Senate version, but not the more expansive House version....no word on whether and yet another Presidential veto will be forthcoming...

OK prom--got your bump*...🙄

Honestly, it probably will make no difference on reimbursement. OTOH, it will remove some of the lifetime caps, "carve-outs" and limits which impair access to care for our patients.

*(Seriously, man--of your last 100 posts, I count 18 which were bumps...)

How is this bill going to affect our jobs, our practice, and our patients.

I too am curious to see what people think about this?

Has there been any recent updates on progress within Congress?

proof democracy is a failure
