I'm moving to another city for Pharmacy school and had one day in Amarillo to look for an apartment which really isn't enough time to find a good place to live. I came across this great website, apartmentratings.com. It's kind of like a ratemyprofessors.com for apartments. I don't know how true the feedbacks are but atleast now I know which apartment to choose. Hope that helps!
