Hey, does anyone know if for the next application cycle (15/16), will significantly more schools requires social sciences/humanities/etc. classes? I graduated in May and am taking a gap year (or two) and I'm worried that if I need to apply next year, I won't be qualified any more.

Thanks for any insight!

You need some soc/psych background for the new MCAT if you're taking it in 2015. Most schools don't have humanities requirements.

No i'm taking the MCAT later this month, but I just want to make sure school requirements (not MCAT requirements) won't change for the next cycle.

I don't see why they would change for next cycle, but that's really not something anyone can say with certainty at this point. Just don't apply to those schools that have those requirements, or you can always take them before matriculation.

IU now requires biochem and behavioral science requirements. I expect more to add them to the requirements. Still, most places simply require the courses before matriculation, so you could still take classes once accepted if necessary.

Look at the schools you're applying to. Some of the state schools I will be applying to will start requiring psych and sociology (3 credits each).

Those schools that are changing the requirements (and there are quite a few of them) have already stated so on their websites.

Okay, I'll look through and see what the websites say. I've looked through a few but they seem to be for this cycle, and I wasn't sure whether a changing MCAT would result in changes in required courses. I could always take them if I need to, but it would be inconvenient as I graduated in May.
