My job doesn't have an EMR to enter notes, and I have to type 30-35 notes every day on new patient consults or followups, print them, and give them to medical records to be filed in the patients' charts. Notes take me upwards of 3(+) hours everyday, sometimes longer. Yes - I have templates for all of my notes.

Does anyone know of any technology or have any advice that could speed this up for me, outside of hiring an outside transcription service?

Do you use these products? Have you had good experience with them?

This also may be a dumb question, but can you dictate straight into a Word document using Dragon?

Also, did you fork over the ~$1500 for dragon medical edition? Seems a bit excessive..

I use them all the time and I have found them to be the best combination. You can dictate straight to word or any document. I am using it right now. I bought the software from ebay for $800. Typical transcription service is about 80 cents to a dollar a minute. The setup will pay for itself in two weeks.

Thank you for the tips. I'll check it out on ebay. I'm doing subacute, so I see a lot of patients. Something to save me time on notes will be a life saver.
