I will be doing an away rotation in Washington DC in August. I'm trying to figure what work clothing I should bring to Washington DC that's appropriate for the climate. What do female med students in DC wear in the summer? Dresses, skirts, pants? I will have to spend some time outside after work while I wait for the bus.

Just be prepared for the humidity... I lived in Annapolis and spent a good amount of time in DC (Foggy Bottom!!!), and I can tell you that the humidity can be brutal. I'm not a girl (so can't comment on skirt vs whatever), but I would personally go with darker colors (BLACK). It'll hide whatever sweat marks may form. Will have to warn you though... if you sweat too much in said black clothes, you'll get salt rings that really stand out if you let the clothes dry without at least wiping them down (I was Navy and sweated a lot in uniforms haha). If you go with lighter colors, Shout wipes will be your friend.

If the current weather is any indication of what it'll be like in August, good luck!
