I currently hold my B.S. and M.S. in Sport Business, but I am planning on a career chance....I will be completing any needed pre-requisite courses in order to apply to pharmacy school. I have been researching various schools and have found that nearly all applications ask for volunteer experience, work experience, extra-curricular activities, etc. I have a few questions:

Should I be putting any volunteer experience and extra-curricular activities I have ever done? How far back should I go?

If I don't have a whole lot of work experience in a health care related field, will that hinder my possible acceptance into a program?

I'm still pretty new to this, so any advice you can help me with is greatly appreciated.....anything related to PCAT/studying for the PCAT, etc. that will increase my chances of getting accepted into a pharmacy program.

List health-care and other ECs, but not all. You'll see on PharmCAS, that unfortunately, there are a limited number of entries allowed. You're not at a disadvantage for not having substantial health care experience. It really only comes into play during the interview. Check the PCAT forum for info on that. Also, visit www.pharmcas.org and www.pcatweb.info

I don't necessarily think that having a huge amount of experience is beneficial to you. The health-care related experiences you have will be helpful in answering the age old question of "Why pharmacy?"

If you have such experiences it will be easier for you to justify your choice, otherwise you'll have to think of other, more creative ways to explain your career choice.
