I was wondering since I cannot take the MCAT in Sept. since school has already started and I have a full load to study, I will risk it by taking it in January. Is it wise to submit my application now even though I won't have taken the test till then? What should I do?

The chances of getting acceptences with a Jan. MCAT is very low, since its VERY late in the application process. Alot of times people that submit their secondaries that late (due Jan MCATs) are placed on the waitlist for schools, even if they have great stats! best advice would be to apply very early on the following cycle (2011-2012). but to answer your direct question, yes if you plan on taking your mcat in Jan, you should submit your primary stat!

Why not take the exam in January and apply next year? You can prep everything throughout the year and submit day 1 next year. This can give you an extra year to travel or work.

I'll be honest, taking the exam in January is not the kiss of death for some DO schools, but it is certainly far from ideal and drastically reduces your options and chances of gaining admission. If you are having any GPA issues, this will also give you a chance to bolster your GPA prior to applying.

It's up to you, but I would wait.

yup this is up to you ultimately, you are gonna be pretty late but it's not unheard of to get in that late, especially if your stats are good. If you do decide to apply this cycle, have everything ready to go, fill out secondaries that schools send you so that the last thing schools need is the mcat so they can get you processed right away.

I guess if money is not an issue and your stats r good, i would do it, however, like has previously been said, it's ultimately a decision u have to make.

100% agree. Most schools accept January MCAT. However, some schools don't accept January MCAT. Others "consider" your January MCAT. I don't know exactly what that means in terms of the school reviewing your application, but to me it sounds like a disadvantage. Therefore, I would advise you to apply next year. Make your application stronger, focus on grades for now, and find some volunteering or extracurricular activities during the application year. Hang in there
