Application Process...HELP PLEASE

Hi,

I am currently considering applying for medical school this summer, but had a few questions for anyone that has insight on the application process (which is more than likely about 99% of the people in this thread)...

1) What personal information is required by most medical schools (i.e. official transcripts, personal files, etc?)

2) If personal files are needed, how does one go about getting copies or whatever is needed to the admissions office?

3) Pretty much, what all do I need to have prepared to send off to medical schools?

I just want to be prepared and ahead of the game by the summer so that I can get my application in right away.

Go to this website and check out the FAQ's. AACOMAS is the application service for most if not all osteopathic schools so you would be submitting all of your materials to them after May whenever the 08 application cycle opens.

Also, check out the FAQ's on this site also, alot of what you're asking has been addressed over and over, and you'll get alot of helpful info just by looking at what previous responses have been given.

All your personal information is required! That includes school transcripts (to every school you ever attended during your undergraduate career). This means that if you took summer courses somewhere else that you wuold have to get transcripts sent from those schools as well.

You get all this information and you send it into either AACOMAS or AMCAS and they handle it from there.

As for gathering information, my school had a "Pre-Health Committee" who organized all my LOR and sent them out to the specfic schools. Transcripts, you just call/order online and have them sent to AACOMAS or AMCAS.

That should be it for now. Make sure you apply early, have your personal statment all ready, and make sure you work diligently working on your secondaries so that you can send them out ASAP.

Thank you all! I know that there are some very specific guidelines and I was generally aware of the search function. I guess I was just wondering if I needed anything beyond transcripts and LOR's. I sincerely thank all of you who were patient and responded. I know that people can get pretty angry with naive questions! Good luck to all of you! 😀
