I think they should make a comedy about the med school admissions process. There was a movie in the early or mid 90's, i don't remember, I'm old, called," How I got into College." It was hilarious and one of my favorites. Some of you may not know it since I am a little older than my fellow SDNers. Anyway, a similar movie based on getting into med school would be sooo funny. Just think about all the hoops we jump thru.... test prep, MCAT, EC, LOR, ... it would all make a great comedy considering how crazy it makes everyone. If you haven't seen, you have to go rent it, if anything, it will make you remember what it was like just applying to college. I think I'm going to go rent it tomorrow! I need the laugh.

You have to rent it. It really is cute and funny. I don't know if you can get it DVD, probally, but definately VHS. Think of it as research for your friends film.

You know, I've thought about this before, but I don't think there's enough of an audience. Millions of students go off to college each year, but only 30,000 or so apply to medical school (I use the word "only" here in a relative sense, as we all are well aware).

There could be a hilarious movie about this, but I don't think anyone could convince a movie studio to make it.

They already have a movie, it's called Clockwork Orange

I see what your saying. But I think if they make the movie about the applicants and how crazy they can get making themselves competative and while waiting to hear answers, I think people could relate. I think it can be written in a way that shows how the process affects people and maybe not about the actual specifics of the process. Besides, I think they done tv shows about med students and what not, why not make a movie?

It might work better as a TV show. It could be about pre-meds. Gunners are usually pretty entertaining.

I just think there is such a variety of applicants... gunners who get in & don't, hopeless romantics wishing for a miracle that happens for some & not others, the average joes, the weird ones, the non-trads.... I find it funny that with all the different backrounds, personalities, and stats there is one common denominator... We are all made mad by the process. Constantly asking for input & advice, checking e-mail for invites like a crazied person, checking mail for thin or fat envelopes, or is that just me?
okay, make a movie about me!

..like True Life: I'm a pre-Med. I was actually thinking about what it would be like to have cameras follow me around and stuff if they did make a truelife like that, but in the end I think it would be prety boring..watch me in class. watch me read. watch me cruise sdn. Plus, the untimate dilemma with any show like this is the pre-meds complaining about how the filming is disrupting their performance

One of my favorites is the movie Gross Anatomy. Has anyone else seen it?

Better yet, what about a reality tv show...like the Apprentice or Top Model...they can hand out stethescopes at the end instead of each episode.."you're still in the running to becoming a doctor" (okay, totally kidding, but they seem to have a reality show about anything now...)

I like it. One admissions spot. 12 pre-meds. Priceless.

For the movie, I could totally see the MCAT study montage. A guy at a desk with the EK study books on his left and then in fast speed plows through them all ending with a stack on his right to the song "Sandstorm"

I do like the idea of keeping them on camera in a cab ride home after an unsuccessful interview...

It would be more intense though to make admissions depend on fear factor like stunts -- like eating pieces of a cadaver.
