At the beginning of this year I decided that I wanted to go to medical school and started taking prereq's. I won't be prepared to take the MCAT until August. Do I have a chance to get into DO school fall 2003 taking the MCAT so late?

Most schools allow you to take the MCAT in the Fall for the year prior to applying. So, taking it next year (Aug 2002) would be fine if you are applying for 2003. In fact, many students do this. Just make sure you get an early start on the rest of your application materials so that there will not be any delay once your MCAT scores are ready. Good luck.

Is it a good idea to apply to AACOM with out having taken the MCAT? (Will they even let you do that?) I keep hearing that the sooner the aplication is in, the better.

bkdavis,

Yes. You SHOULD apply to AACOMAS the day they first allow applications or as close to that date as possible. don't worry about not having taken the test yet. That way there is no delay when your scores come in. A friend of mine was given secondaries on his grades alone. As long as they know you will be taking the mcat's in August your fine. One question, why not take the test in April?
Good luck 😎
