Hello all,

I need some input from all of you in this specific question:
I'm participating in " the dentistry today program" in first week on June and of course I would like to include that in the dental experience section. However, i don't want to hold up my application till June. My understanding is I can't add/edit any information after I submitted or am I misunderstanding? Any suggestion? Should i wait or there is a better alternative i can do? Btw, i have been shawdowing a dentist since march and on avg i have done 4 hrs/week. Would this alone be okay?

Thanks ahead!

Just put down the program in the app, because by the time the schools get it u will have completed it! Same thing goes with the shadowing... I have only done 15 hours of shadowing but im putting down 80 hours on the app, because by the time the app gets there, I would have completed that.

I called AADSAS today asking a similar question...I am currently at around 80 hours of volunteer/shadowing. However by the time I start dental school I will be at about 320 hours. They informed me that I should put 320 hours in the app...so that's what I am going to do. Straight from the horses mouth. If anyone hears otherwise...PLEASE let me know.

are u talking about the voluntering time in the dentist office? ohh god 350 hours thats alot? do u they need aprove or something?

Yes, I'd put it now. An early but accurate application is the best. If you don't feel comfortable saying you've done it, you can always do the, "will participate in the 2006...etc." and summarize what will be involved. They like to know you're planning!

The one i'm going is in Maryland. Here is the website:

http://www.dental.umaryland.edu/admissions/dentistrytoday.html

There are other similar programs at different dental schools. I know for sure there is one in NJ dental school. For me, the purpose is not to see whether I like dentistry or not because I already know I do =) I just want to meet with faculties and explore more about school since it is one of my choices.

that's good opportunity.. networking is definitely a good idea.
