first and foremost, go to the pharmcas website, and read their instructions

1.) are you only applying to schools that use pharmcas? or are you applying to some schools that use pharmcas, and some schools that do not?

2.) if the former, then no...pharmcas will not accept recommendations mailed in by the student...your professors will have to submit the recommendations...and it's recommended (by pharmcas) that they submit it online

3.) why would you want to read it?

No, you are not allowed to read them unless the professor freely gives you the letter of his/her own volition. You waive your right to review your letters of recommendation in that form you give them. Generally though, writers of really really good letters will always give you the letter because they want you to know that they're really supporting your application. I asked for about 9 letters or so in preparing for my applications over the years, and I received hard copies of every single one. So yes, you can read them if they give them to you freely; but the professors have to send in a copy that you haven't read.

Loma Linda and Western, and I'm sure others have a box to check and signature indicating that you've waived your rights to view the LOR. I tried leaving it unchecked, one professor said they wouldn't do one if the box wasn't checked, another said that not waiving your rights leaves the school with the impression that bias would be introduced if the professors know that the student can request to view it. As they explained it, it's in your best interest to waive your right to view the LOR. I only had one professor provide me a copy of the LOR out of 7 I had done.

The procedure for returning the LORs does vary depending on what school it's for. As given above, PharmCAS requires the writer to send directly to them, preferable electronically. Non-pharmCAS schools have different rules. LLU requires they be sent directly by the writer. Western allows them to be sent by the student, but the envelope has to have the author's signature across the seal of the envelope. I sent all 3 LORs, my supplemental application, and my transcripts in the same envelope to Western.

waive the right to view the letter upon completion of the application. Why would you pick anyone that will say something horrible anyway so it should not matter.

do you guys actually send in like 7-9 letters of recommendations?

I also have a question: I was planning to apply early this year but at the same time i want to take my PCATS. Can i submit my application on pharmcas early and then send out my pcat scores to the colleges later? or do i have to wait until i get my pcat scores before i do the final submission on pharmcas?

You may submit your application prior to your scores going into the system. Once your scores reach PharmCAS, they will automatically forward them to the schools in question.

This is a good way to approach applying since you want your application to be considered as soon as possible.😉

Not all to one place, but yes. 3 for LLU, 3 to Western, and 3 to PharmCAS. 7 different authors.

why did you send different ones in? is it okay to just have 3 of the same author sent to all of the schools?
