I need some insight on admissions terminology.

1) what do you call it when you submit and application but they email you saying they are holding off your application. you didn't get an interview invite nor are you rejected right away.

2) what's it called if you were interviewed but they are holding out on telling you if you're accepted or not.

3)waitlisted/alternate lists: only applies to post-interviews right? which one is better than the other?

4)what do you call it when you interview at a school but not accepted that year due to limited seats but they still like you and offer you guaranteed acceptance (or sosmething like that..some priority status or benefit) if you wait and reapply next year. (what list is this called that you're on)

is 1) and 2) both deferred? is it hold?

😕

Wow, I didn't even know number 4 existed, you learn something new everyday.

#1 is called a hold. Its like being put in limbo or on pause.

#2 is also a hold.

#3 waiting list is the same thing as alternate list. Theyre waiting for the accepted kids to decline and when enough decline, the people on the wait list can start getting pulled off the list and get accepted themselves.

#4 i dont know what #4 is. Thats called a guaranteed seat if you reapply the following year, according to what youve said.

To defer means to be accepted and then wait one year before you start. You can do that in undergrad, but not for Pharmacy school.

Best of luck!

Yeah, number 4 seems crazy to me. Sorry, I cant answer your questions, all you can do is play the waiting game. There should be more people on adcoms on these forums to answer all these darn admission questions.

someone told me they were offered that from sullivan university

isn't deferred application different from deferring admissions?
what you wrote pertains to the later.
i think deferred application is like they are holding off yoru application before intviting you for an interview.

but i don't know...🙂
