I welcome ANY suggestions on where/where not to apply!

My stats:

3.9 GPA (overall and science)

PAT: 21
QR: 22
RC: 22
Bio: 21
GC: 22
OC: 21
TS: 21
AA: 22

I am an Ohio resident and am looking to go OOS. I have 3 semesters of research experience, 1,000+ volunteering hours, and 200 shadowing hours. EC's include: soccer, track, and a club volleyball team.

Possibly thinking about OMFS or Pediatrics.

Some schools I have been checking out:
  • Ohio State
  • Kentucky
  • Pitt
  • Maryland
  • LECOM and NOVA
  • UNC and East Carolina
  • VCU
  • Colorado State (??)
Any suggestions about schools out west?

Also I am looking to apply for HPSP if anyone has insight. I am thinking Navy, but the Army has been heavily contacting me.

Thank you!

Unless you’re a NC resident, take ECU off your list. Case Western is a good program to add in Ohio.

Your stats are good enough to get an interview anywhere given the rest of your application is at least average. I’d say UPENN if your going HPSP just because I really liked it. Also DCG was a nice school but pretty competitive OOS.

Thank you! Are you currently at UPENN and in the HPSP? If so, which branch did you decide on?

Good to know about ECU! I've heard that Case is heavily research oriented rather than clinical. Do you have any insight to that? Also, they are 100K/year when it's all said and done. I know it doesn't matter if I get the HPSP, but if not that's a lot of debt.

No I’m not. I actually turned down UPenn with scholarship to go to ECU. I spent a few months discussing HPSP with a recruiter but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth it because ECU has VERY cheap tuition. I really enjoyed my UPENN interview day and it felt like a great school. If you’re doing HPSP price doesn’t really matter which is why I suggested it. If you don’t end up doing HPSP I’m an advocate of cheapest dental school.

That's awesome! Congratulations! I'm assuming you're an NC resident since you got into ECU (their website says they only accept in-state). Did you go through the process of applying for HPSP or just talk with a recruiter?

With those stats i'd say in state is your best option, or if your set on OOS 23 plus AA is your only option.

Best of luck, you'll need it!

I actually applied but when I got my offer from ECU I withdrew my app. And thanks!
