Between the following two scenarios, which would you recommend:

1. Submitting primary application in June with a AMCAS verified BCPM3.18 GPA and updating schools with summer classes in mid August post submission of secondaries.

2. Submitting primary application in August with a BCPM 3.2x GPA

Is there a significant difference in topping the 3.2 GPA threshold in order to beat out any GPA screens? Or does applying as early as possible trump this hypothetical situation?

in either case, your GPA is very low for any application. Unless you have strong upward grade trend, your are likely to be part of the 80% of all applicants at each indivdual school that are rejected preinterview.

That did not answer my questions, but thank you for your insights.

I was being facetious and unsuccessfully tried to find some humor in this. I'm asking on behalf of someone else and agree with you that it does not make a really a big difference. I think the better question is apply ASAP or wait for a slight GPA bump to get over any hypothetical thresholds that may not even exist?

Best advice is to wait a year, continue to take classes (get As) and then take a fifth year with more classes or a gap year to add to ECs.

Yeah bro the GPA ain't the stickiest... you sure you wanna spend the money for apps? A lot of school like to charge for secondaries before they send you to hell so... Unless your MCAT is >510, then maybe...

Submit early tho because that 0.2 won't help much.

Should have led with this. The advice given is that there is no difference because the GPA is bad.

Sincere thank you for the replies. I am already accepted into medical school and had 13 interviews this cycle with a very similar GPA and ECs, so I'm biased with her possible chances of success. I'm trying to give the best of advice and with the consensus of replies so far I will tell her to apply ASAP.

I understand that having lower numbers decreases your chances of acceptance. I didn't want to make a bloviated post about the person applying or about my own successes applying. I got the information I needed from this thread in order to answer my original question.
