Hey can someone help me out with this application timeline business, I'm worried that I'll be rejected or have to take a year off..

So the school I want to apply to uses your cumulative GPA of your last three years (not including spring and summer), with the lowest year dropped in the calculation, BUT only if you finish your 4 year undergrad degree. I plan on finishing so I know my first year will be dropped.

My first year GPA was 3.2 (bad I know). Second year GPA was 3.9. I am going into third year, meaning that to begin med school right after I graduate (September 2018), I have to apply in the summer after third year (July 2017).

Does this mean that they're not going to wait around to see how well I end up doing in my fourth year, and that they're only going to look at my first three years!? Someone told me that for them to actually drop my lowest year, I need to apply in the summer after my fourth year, meaning I have a year off .. I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks guys.

If you want to drop your first year from consideration, you'll have to apply your senior spring and take a gap year. The app season runs summer - summer, so schools wouldn't be waiting around for your senior year grades. You'd only be able to include them as updates.
